Unselfish Thinking!

This week I read a small book 'How Successful People Think' written by John Maxwell. Chapter 10 is titled, “Practice Unselfish Thinking.” He says that Unselfish Thinking brings personal fulfillment and adds value to others. When we practice Unselfish Thinking we are paying it forward, and increasing the quality of our life of those around us. And to practice Unselfish Thinking we need to put others first, expose ourself to situations where people have needs and continually check our motives. Adopting new modes of thinking boosts our chances of success, but there’s also a way of thinking about the world that can change our entire life: Unselfish Thinking. Taking that up might just redefine our concept of success itself. But the best thing about Unselfish Thinking is that it lets us become part of something much bigger than Ourself. Over the years, I have seen that as we go into any relationship, we need to think about how we can invest in the other person so it becomes a Wi...

Be A Finisher!

There are better starters than me but I'm a strong finisher.~Usain Bolt. Talk is cheap. Action speaks. The idea of getting something started is important. It takes courage, effort, and energy. Anybody who can get something started is worthy of note (nothing changes until you change). But what’s the point of starting if you don’t finish? Finisher for me is someone who is clear about his purpose, has the discipline to do the work every day, and who knows the importance of keeping his promises to himself and others. But What it Takes to be a Finisher? Those who labor on have that little extra. They understand their purpose – They are clear to themselves and others about their “ WHY ;” they don’t find themselves second-guessing (too much!) what they are doing, why they are running. They have the discipline. They have the mental toughness to continue. They stay true to themselves. They have chosen their battles well. They know you can’t do everything, and it’s better to choose just a ...

Embrace Stretch Goals!

My stint in one of the leading Private Sector Banks in India taught me to think Big and embrace Stretch Goals in Business & Life. I believe the intention of setting Stretch Goals is to push ourself outside the comfort zone. Growth will not happen if we keep doing what we’ve already done in the past. It comes from failing while trying to make progress. If we aim to achieve five great things and only succeed at two of them, we are outperforming all the people who never tried in the first place. Set stretch goals. Don’t ever settle for mediocrity. The key to stretch is to reach for more than you think is possible. Don’t sell yourself short by thinking that you’ll fail. Stretch goals involve radical expectations that go beyond current capabilities and performance. Stretch goals demand more quantity and quality of work and force us to innovate more often than ordinary goals. And in the pursuit of it, we grow our skills to where they need to be in order to get it done. My experience...

Patience!

All things are difficult before they become Easy~Saadi. I read this quote recently and could relate to it in many ways. Patience for me is the state of Endurance under Difficult circumstances, which can mean persevering in the face of delay, especially when faced with longer-term difficulties. All things are difficult before they are Easy, reminds me that while we may not know exactly what we’re doing, we will eventually figure it out. Besides, Patience is not simply the Ability to Wait - it's how we behave while we're Waiting. I believe that a Trusting Attitude and a Patient Attitude go hand in hand. When we Let Go and Learn to Trust God, it releases Joy in our Life. And when we trust God, we are able to be more Patient. Each Life is Made up of Mistakes and Learning, Waiting and Growing, being Persistent and practicing Patience. We need to always remember that we have within us the Strength, the Passion, and the Patience to reach where we want to be. It can be very attr...
