Connecting The Dots To Discover Our Purpose!

This week I happen to go through the commencement speech Steve Jobs gave at Stanford University in 2005 where he told the story of how he came to connect the dots of his past and went on to revolutionize technology. In his speech, he shared "You can't connect the dots looking forward. You can only connect them looking backward. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something - your gut, destiny, life, karma whatever - because believing that the dots will connect down the road will give you the confidence to follow your heart, even when it leads you off the well-worn path. And that will make all the difference." I could very much connect my Start-up Journey with the above as what these Dot-connecting opportunities often reveal is a range of life possibilities that have been quietly developing for years, decades even. We just haven’t bothered to notice them or allowed ourselves to step far enough back from the demand...

Commit to Something!

This week I was sharing with our Investors on how committed we have been to our Start-up. Commitment for me is that Turning Point in our Life when we seize the moment and convert it into an opportunity to alter our destiny. Achieving even the simplest of goals requires us to learn the meaning of commitment. Throughout our life, we are reminded of commitment, whether it’s related to personal or business goals, and we realize that without committing, we can’t achieve anything. When we think about it, everything we ever achieved sprouted from a commitment we made; whether it’s our children, our degree, our passion, or even our profession. Learning how to commit to Something is not simply about making a commitment, however, it’s about keeping the commitment in the face of foreseen and unforeseen hurdles, giving it the required time and free to be dedicated, to the slow but necessary work of turning our visions into projects and values into practices. I believe that the most radical ac...

Will You Call Your Life Well-Lived?

Today in the morning while entering the Aircraft on my way to Delhi from Mumbai, I saw this tag line displayed. We are at the Begining of the Year & It made me thinking, What does A Life Well-Lived mean? A Life Well-Lived for many means Success. It’s a phrase used when people are satisfied with what they have achieved in Life. For some, a Life Well-Lived may mean to have taken every chance you could have. A Life Well-Lived to Me means that You did what You wanted to do no matter what others said. You lived the Life You Wanted to Live and You’re Happy in all Aspects of Your Life. That is a Life Well-Lived to Me. I believe We must Each Lead a Life Well-Lived with Self-Awareness and Compassion, To-Do as Much as We Can. Then, Whatever Happens, We Will have No Regrets. Life is a Gift and Many of us take it for Granted that We’ll wake Up Healthy in the Morning Until We Have a Reason to Believe Otherwise. For Me, A Truly Life Well-Lived is All About Finding Our Purpose While Still Yo...

Fire In the Belly!

My Elder daughter is right now going through Jagriti Yatra which is an Ambitious Train Journey of Discovery and Transformation that takes hundreds of India's highly motivated youth, on a 15 day, 8000 km national odyssey to meet the role models - social and business entrepreneurs - of the country. I met many of these Youth yesterday when the Yatra reached Delhi and did find a Fire in their Belly, a Burning Desire to Do Something for Themselves and for the Country. Fire in the Belly is the Strong Desire to Be, Have, Do and Experience something Greater in Our Life. I Believe it to be the Most Important Tool for Achieving Success, as it Overrides Both Talent and Resources. Fire in the Belly can Lead anyone to Triumph, regardless of what is put in front of them. Having a Dream, Coupled with the Will, Courage, and Ambition to be on Top of the World, will get us further in life than we can imagine. We can’t Teach Fire in the Belly. We either Have It in Us – the Drive, the Self-motiva...
