Take Charge & Take Care of Yourself!

The year 2020 will be an important year for me both personally & professionally. While reflecting on the year gone by, one thing that clearly stood out for me was that in order to achieve those important milestones I have set for myself, I need take charge & take care of myself. More importantly, I have realized that If I do not do anything or I do the same thing over and over again, I will stay the same. Staying the same for me means going backward. I will have to constantly change with the changing times & keep reinventing myself whenever required. I have experienced that if I do that, the results start showing. I also need to keep moving forward, push myself to be the best version of myself and I need to base everything around this vision. Working while taking this focused approach is the path I would like to walk in the Year 2020. I know my skills well, I know that my hard work and my perseverance have been my strengths all these years. I know that I have the ability...

Life is All About Possibilities & Opportunities!

The month of December for me is a month of reflection, I look into the year gone by and reflect on the Opportunities and Possibilities of the Year. I reflect on whether I could turn my obstacles into opportunities and my problems into possibilities. Did I Invest time enough in activities that could possibly expand my thinking of possibilities? These included defining our vision, conversations, reading, learning and exploring new ideas. Did I Pursue opportunities that could stretch me beyond my comfort zone? Did I invest enough time in seeking opportunities to achieve our goals? As I believe that as just as there are unlimited possibilities we can create, there are unlimited opportunities we can seek and that is the essence of Innovation. Opportunities for me are the concrete choices we have to make whereas Possibilities are just dreams. I keep telling my Team that unless we open ourselves to the opportunity of possibility, many of the things which are possible and achievable for us ...

When will it be Your Turn to Live Your Dream?

Yesterday I was talking to one of my Younger Brother's Friends who had hit ceiling in his Armed Forces Career and was struggling to figure out his next career move, his next opportunity to live up to his dreams. I believe we all have a dream. A dream that we spend days, months, even years thinking about and wishing it was a reality. This dream, if fulfilled, could mean a major life transition that brings us greater purpose and happiness. Whatever dream is close to our heart – writing a book, moving to a new city, leaving that soul-sucking job to become a Startuprenure like me – I think it’s surely possible. All great things start in our imagination. However, I have seen with many that once we imagine something, we may not act on it because of fear, self-doubt and life circumstances. I think the difference between who make the cut and others is - are we limited by our current capabilities or be unlimited by the open possibilities and thus become limitless. Over the years, while p...

Let Diverse Views, Ideas Coexist!

Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said this week a “common ground” is needed where diverse ideas and views can coexist. At the Times Litfest, he said, “There has been a dominant intellectual view since Independence. Sure, you are entitled to your views. But the problem arises when they claim ‘only our view is right’ and anyone who is not in accord with that is a reactionary." In Life, we are so accustomed to the way things are that we don’t even recognize that they could be different. The inability to think in new ways affects all of us. As a Startupreneur, over the years we have learned to question deeply held ideas that we no longer question but should. We have learned that we need to question those deeply held ideas. And one of the most effective ways to do is to introduce a little discord to one’s intellectual interactions. Critical thinking needs to be a moral imperative. What this all means is that, as difficult as it can sometimes be, talking to people with different pe...

I Don't Know What I Need To Do!

This week I read through the Interview of Fit and Hungry, Mohammed Shami, Indian fast bowler who is bowling at his best and is pivotal to the success of the Indian team. He shared that he has now come to terms with his game and he had now learned that he needs to stay fit to bowl with pace and skill. He knows now how important it is to have clarity on what he needs to do to be a good fast bowler. Going through the interview I could relate to many students who had recently graduated, friends going through their mid-life crisis and those who are now starting their second Inning, all whom I had met recently, they all knew what they wanted to be, but they all did not have clarity and did not know what they need to do to become what they wanted to be. I think it's safe to assume we've all been there, wishing someone would swoop into our lives and tell us what to do when we don't know what we need to do. Figuring out which way to go, what to choose, is never easy. And so when we...
