Simple is Difficult!

Image
This week India crossed the Big Milestone of administering over one billion vaccine doses through Janbhagidari. It was a Simple idea of vaccinating as many against all odds and difficulty with public participation. When I say Simple is Difficult, I am simply directing our attention towards the complex solutions and structures we construct resulting in complicating our work & life. A simple person, a simple problem, a simple solution — we place little value on simple. Instead, we hold in high regard the complex, because complexity suggests hard work, commitment, intelligence, diligence, and focus. We need complexity even while we crave simplicity. Simple Ideas are often Difficult to Imagine & Execute. "Simple can be harder than the complex: You have to work hard to get your thinking clean to make it simple. But it’s worth it in the end because once you get there, you can move mountains.” ~ Steve Jobs. When we are looking at a big problem it’s easy to be overcome by the volu...

Keep Learning from your Mistakes, Try Making New Mistakes!

Image
Yesterday my daughter was sharing her learning experience from the Pre Board Exams she is giving. She did admit that she made a few mistakes which was a learning experience for her. My only advice to her was to Not repeat the same mistake and Try Making New Mistakes. Yes, mistakes make us learn but repeating the same mistake does tell us that we have not learnt from the lesson well. And by making New Mistakes we continue our learning journey. Over the Years as a Startuprenure, I have learnt to keep learning & evolving by reading as much and by questioning the Existing. Learned from the Mistakes of others and not by experience of making mistakes myself. Yes, there is no age for learning. Yes, at every phase of life we will keep making mistakes. Yes, we need to learn to not repeat the mistakes and try as much to Make New Mistakes. We must learn from our mistakes. But if we keep on doing the same mistake, then we need to have a hard look at ourselves. We should not allow as much to ma...

Timing is Everything in Business/Career & Life!

Image
This week I went through this post on LinkedIn wherein Richard Branson answers very important question *In Our Business/Career & Life, How to know when to slow down, and when to put the pedal to the metal?* I am sharing few excerpts from the answer he gave. He replies 'Timing is everything in life, and it’s particularly crucial in entrepreneurship. People often equate success with luck, but it usually comes down to impeccable (and carefully mapped out) timing. Staying ahead of the curve; predicting market conditions; spotting opportunities before they arise; and forecasting the wider economic, social and technological landscape will really help you minimise risks when starting a business.' In our Startup Journey, with certain ideas we were ahead of time and certain ideas did not have the required potential. We kept moving ahead till the time we did find our calling with idea of Jeevitam - a Tech enabled Livelihood Platform. Looking back I see that we started with Jeevitam a...

Identify the Winners!

Image
This week I went through one of the posts made by Matt Higgins (Guest Investor on the series Shark Tank) where he shares how Cathie Woods (Investor) spends her days making calls on the edge (Identifying Winner Stocks/Ideas) - and more often than not, getting them right. She Says 'If there is merit as others are dismissing the possibilities, that's where we're going to find great success. Matt agrees with her and believes, 'Obvious is the enemy of Arbitrage. We must train our minds to cultivate our conviction and then act on the opportunity before the tipping point of evidence. It's so so hard to identify Winners. But when we do, and we know in our heart that we see something others don't, we must abide by the voice in our head and go all in.' As a Startuprenure, I concur with his views in entirety. In Business & Life, to be successful, we need to Identify the Winners. It's indeed hard to identify Winners in Business. They get into the game to win as ...

Everything Begins With An Idea!

Image
This week I saw this Program on WION TV Channel wherein Anant Rangaswami (Editor MELT) in conversation with the Team Ogilvy India’s Tanuja Bhat, Swagata Banerjee, and Samyu Murali shared how the idea for Cadbury Dairy Milk’s “Good Luck Girls” TVC was born, and how it was brought to life, and why "Good Luck Girls" deserves all the attention. They shared that Big Ideas that come Straight from the Heart are very Rare, How it was a Perfect idea at its very Root, and How it takes a Village to Bring an Idea to Life. Ideas are what changes the world, and over the years as a Startuprenure, have learned that for generating a great idea we need to not only be creative, but we also need to abandon traditional ways of looking into things, and then work on what is required to take it from Ideation to Execution. 'All achievements, all earned riches, have their beginning in an idea.' ~ Napoleon Hill.  Yes, I agree that Big Ideas that come Straight from the Heart are indeed very Ra...
