Windows of Opportunity!

Last week I was sharing with the New Joiners in our Startup, how I used the First Opportunity Offered to me by English Teacher's friend to kick-start my career in Mumbai. Each day, Life sends us Little Windows of Opportunity. Our Destiny will Ultimately be Defined by How We Respond to these Windows of Opportunity. Shrink from Them and Our Life will be Small. Feel the Fear and Run to Them Anyway, and Our Life will be Big. Life’s just too Short to Play Little. Nothing is more Expensive than a Missed Opportunity. We will Seldom Experience Regret for anything that we have done. It is what we Haven't Done that will Torment Us. The Message, therefore, is Clear. Do It! Develop an Appreciation for the Present. Using them up in Some Self-Defeating ways means we have Lost them Forever. For example, Even with Our kids, We only have a Tiny Window to develop them and champion their highest potential..And to show them what unconditional love looks like. When that window closes, it’s Hard ...

Remembering "My Ma" on her 3rd Death Anniversary :)

My Ma left us for heavenly abode three years ago today. Last year, I wrote about her and feel nothing has changed. In some ways, it seems like many years have passed since she left us. Her absence is part of my daily life now. But there are still times when the wound still feels fresh. At some point many days, I think I should call her and have to remind myself I can no longer do this. Ma was my biggest fan. Growing up, the word that I associate with her is love. I remember as a child that it was unconditional and expressed often. I knew she was proud of me, but I never felt like I had to do anything to earn her love – it was just there. I still have with me in my purse, the letter she wrote to me when I was leaving home for my first job in Mumbai. The values she gave me held me up as a good human being in various parts of my life. She supported me in all major decisions of my life, my decision to start my career in Mumbai, my decision to choose my Life Partner, many others. N...

Start with WHY?

This week I read the book "Start with WHY" by Simon Sinek. I am Sharing Few Pointers Relevant in Our Life & Business. In his book, Simon argues about the “What, How and WHY” of Doing Things and How often We Fail to See the results because We Spend a Lot of Time Talking about the What and How and Fail to Tackle the Most Important Part i.e. “WHY”. WHY we should be doing X? WHY we should hear this talk? WHY are we here today? WHY are we going to work every day. Simon argues that if We Start with WHY and I tend to agree with him, we are Likely to See a Lot More Positive Results. Start with WHY Gets to the Bottom of WHY certain Businesses and People are far more Innovative and Successful than Others - even in situations where everyone has the same Access to Technology, Resources, and People. If Everyone Found their WHY, we’d all feel Fulfilled By Our Work .Whether we are an Entrepreneur, an Employee, a Leader of a team, or Are Looking to Find Clarity on Our Next Move, our W...

The Festival Called Life - Let Us Celebrate It !

I just came back from Festival Celebrations and meeting my Family & Friends in my home town. While going through the deluge of Festive messages, I saw this message in one of the Whatsapp group where one of my friends was sharing his view on how our previous generation used to love to meet and greet socially on Festivals and how it got transformed to calls and then greetings over WhatsApp and now he foresees two Alexa wishing each other. As we become more reliant on our Mobile Phones, and more “connected” through Whatsapp/Facebook, we can actually become more disconnected from each other was the concern. Because what we need is IRL (In Real Life) experiences, while we drown in a sea of URLs. However, I have a view that both In Real Life & Virtual Experiences are important for us. Real Life Experiences help deepen our bond with our Family & Friends. While Virtual Experience helps us reach out to all those whom we may not have been able to reach out earlier. However, how mu...

Aspirations!

In the last couple of months I had the opportunity to interact with hundreds of Street Food Chefs for Training Programs being conducted across India. One thing stood out and consistent among all was their Aspiration to Do Good in Life. * Ek Nai Pehchan Meri Apni Dukaan * (Getting a New Identity of having my own Shop) was every Street Food Chef's * Aspiration *. I believe that We cannot always seek Achievements for Ourselves and Forget about Progress and Prosperity of the Communities Around Us. Our Ambitions Must be Broad Enough to Include the Aspirations of Others, for Their Sakes and For Our Own. To Understand the Heart and Mind of a Person, Look Not at What He Has Already Achieved, But At What He Aspires To. Aspirations Forms the Plot of Our Success. It takes a Certain Level of Aspiration before One can Take Advantage of Opportunities and Possibilities That Are Clearly Offered. To Accomplish Great Things in Life We Must Not Only Act, But Also Aspire; Not Only Plan, But Also Be...
