Being Choosy about Choosing!

This week again was spent doing Campus Interviews and one question which I saw the students kept asking was with so many choices available what career option they should choose. I keep telling the graduates that when they are trying to pick a new path in their career, the criteria they should use is 75% "I Add Value" and 25% "It Provides Opportunities for Growth." When we choose based on what We can Offer, our Value-added becomes the greatest. The choice is all about possibilities. The choice is also a cultural construct. Our culture teaches us how many choices we want, how to make a choice, who should make a choice, what constitutes a meaningful choice.

No matter who we are, our lives get affected by our circumstances, fate and random events. Sometimes they make us fortunate, and sometimes not. The reason I believe why choice is so powerful and so important is because it is through choice that we decide what we wish to do with what we have before us. Will we accept our fate, or will we veto it? Choice also enables us to figure out whether there are new possibilities that can be created. Choosing has become more complicated than ever before. Now, with all of them so much information available, we have to decide before choosing whether it is worth our time to choose. We often feel better when others make choices for us, but only if we are properly informed.

Simply choosing a path is also not enough. We have to choose how to get on that path. And to do that, we have to keep asking ourselves, "Where do We want to be in 1 year, 5 years and 10 years?" When we look back on these plans, we'll often find that the correlation between where we are and where we intended to go. Over the years have realized that imagination instills in us a passion and it sharpens our focus to achieve our goals. Our Vision becomes our rudder - the measure by which we make choices - about what to pursue. I can promise, choosing where we want to go does not ensure our arrival there, but it will definitely take us to places.

Happy Sunday!! Keep Moving & Smiling!!🏃🏽😊
