Never Burn Bridges!

I have heard this metaphor so many times and is one of the most contentious ones I believe. There's a view that because we live in such a small world, it is critically important not to burn bridges - no matter how tempted we might be! We aren’t going to like everyone and everyone isn’t going to like us, but there’s no need to not be friends. Another view is that if we hang around toxic people, get the matches ready. The constant complainers, those that see everything in a negative light, anyone that holds us back or anyone that leads us to make not good decisions…. Why keep them around? Burn that bridge.

We’ve also read that some military leaders would burn bridges that they had crossed so they couldn’t retreat and so their enemies couldn’t follow behind them. When we burn our bridges, sometimes it's so we can move forward only, giving ourselves only one option. Forward or Nothing. Also, there are times in life when our emotions get the best of us. We say things we don’t mean, we take a stand that really isn’t important, and we leave a relationship unattended all because we can’t figure out how to approach a challenging situation. However, burning a bridge might be necessary sometimes, but in most cases, it can seriously impact our life by closing doors and limiting certain opportunities.

There are many who believe that we should not burn bridges, as we will be surprised how many times we have to cross the same river. In my view, the hardest thing in life to learn is which bridge to cross and which to burn. However, I also believe that with every bridge that burns a new path is opened for the way our destiny is to be shaped. If we believe in destiny then we must believe that the bridge was burned so we can find a new way to go to find the destiny that we were meet to follow. I'm grateful for every scar, some pages turned, some bridges burned, but there were lessons learned.

Happy Sunday!! Keep Moving & Smiling!!🏃🏽😊
