Perception Matters!
In our Professional & Personal Lives, we have often seen People managing Perception about themselves and creating Perception about others. Perception is indeed a reality and we all need to always keep that in mind. And often there is a difference between Perception and Reality. I have seen that in a real-world no one really cares about our real intentions. Not because they are heartless or selfish. It’s just that because people simply do not have that much time to understand a person. We all are in a state of constant hurry and that's why we make decision short-cuts all the time. And one of the decision shortcuts that we often make is to judge what we see/hear and create Perceptions.
I believe Perception is actually important to everyone. So often we do not see/hear accurately what someone is trying to communicate, because we often get the gist and then we fill in the gaps according to our own experiences and perception so far. This new perception of the conversation or event can easily be inaccurate because to a certain extent we process what we expect and not what is offered. If we want to truly understand what someone is saying we need to concentrate with all our attention using all sensory cues, otherwise little will change because we will fumble along seeing things our own way, that quite frankly to me is notoriously unreliable.
Perceptions do matter. The way we appear to others can affect how they, in turn, react to us, and the degree of confidence or comfort they have in dealing with us. The challenge with perception in human relations is that we may not always understand someone else’s perception and/or assume their perception as our own. This is where disagreements and other communication issues can occur. I believe everything we see/hear is an opinion, not a fact and everything we see/hear is a perspective, not the real truth. If we can clean the doors of Perception everything in this world would appear to us, Infinite.
