Building a Resilient Character!
This week one of my friends from Australia shared his podcast on the topic 'Leveraging a Crushing Setback for a Second Chance at Significance'. One of the key takeaways from this podcast which I could relate so much was on how building a Resilient Character is important for us in our Life & Business. Over the years I have learned that Life may not come with a map, but each one of us will experience twists and turns, from everyday challenges to traumatic events with more lasting impact. Yet we all generally adapt well over time to life-changing situations and stressful situations — in part thanks to our resilient character. I have seen that the people with strong resilient character have "internal locus of control”: they believe that they, and not their circumstances, affect their achievements, they frame adversity as a challenge, they become more flexible and are able to deal with it, they move on, they learn from it, and they grow.
I believe as much as a resilient character involves "bouncing back" from the difficult experiences, I have also experienced it involves profound personal growth. Over the years of my Startup Journey, I have experienced that while these adverse events are certainly painful and difficult, they don’t have to determine the outcome of our life. There are many aspects of our life we can control, modify and grow with and I believe that’s the role of a resilient character. Becoming more resilient not only helps us get through difficult circumstances, but it also empowers us to grow and even improve our life along the way.
One of the important things to always remember is that we are not alone on our Journey of Life. I have learned again and again that while we may not be able to control all of our life circumstances, however, we can always grow by focusing on the aspects of our life’s challenges which we can manage with the support of loved ones and trusted professionals. The core we build over the years is indeed the edifice that helps us bounce back. Each experience resets the bar. And makes our Resilient Character Better And Stronger.
Happy Sunday!! Keep Moving & Smiling!!🏃🏽😊
