Choose Happiness!
This week I was in Bhutan as part of CII Delegation along with our Minister. During my visit there I had the privilege to meet a lot of Informed & Interesting People, exchanged a lot of new & interesting ideas and a lot of good learnings. One of the interesting learnings was about Bhutan being known as the Kingdom of Happiness and Gross National Happiness a philosophy that guides the Government of Bhutan. They chose Gross National Happiness as the Goal in its Constitution. It stuck with me that if a Government can choose Happiness as a Goal for its people, why we as Individuals can't also choose Happiness as a way of our Life as a good portion of happiness is within our control?
“Happiness does not depend on what you have or who you are. It solely relies on what you think.” –Buddha. I think Every one of us wants to be happy, and not just for brief, fleeting moments but deeply happy throughout the course of our entire life. I have learned in my Startup Journey that we can’t always control what happens to us in life, but we do always have the power to choose how we are going to react to what’s happening in the world around us, happiness is always a choice. I believe sustaining happiness in our life takes a lot of commitment, courage, a deep understanding of who we are and knowing our purpose in life; and this does not just happen overnight. It is a life long journey.
Over the years I have learned that if we have the courage to admit when we are scared, the ability to laugh even as we cry, the nerve to speak up, even if our voice is shaking, the confidence to ask for help when we need it, and the wisdom to take it when it’s offered, then we have everything we need to get ourself to a happier state of mind. I have experienced that when we live a happy life, we have more resilience; our confidence and self-belief flourishes. And this enables us to successfully navigate our way through the tough times that life throws at us. While I will request all to Choose Joy, Choose Happiness every day, at the same time will also suggest raising the bar for yourself, each day choose to be happier than you were the previous day.
Happy Sunday!! Keep Moving & Smiling!!🏃🏽😊
