TimeTo Restart!

This week the Times Magazine cover page had these lines written: "We must get it into our heads that our lives have changed". I think these headlines on the cover page gives a very clear indication of what lies ahead of us when the lockdown gets lifted and Time to Restart comes. We have to get into our heads that the world will not be the same again. We need to accept the fact that our lives have changed. When Time to Restart comes, we will realize that we are used to working from home and it has become a new norm, we are used to not traveling, we are used to reading newspapers digitally and we are used to doing meetings over zoom. It will be difficult for many to leave these newly acquired habits after the lockdown.

When Time to Restart Comes and when we step out of our homes after the lockdown, we will find that the world outside has changed. We will see people around us wearing masks always and following social distancing norms. When we will reopen our office/factories, we will find our workers missing as they have gone back home. When we will start working, we will realize that many of our colleagues are still working from home, working digitally has become a norm. When we go back to work, we will find that we have to either work in shifts or the floor plan has changed. When we go looking out for our customers, we will find they are not there anymore or are now asking for different products. When we start doing business, we will realize that old business models are no longer working, we need to be innovative, create new business models, get into new businesses and build new partnerships/collaborations.

I believe every crisis brings with it some unseen opportunities. We will have to question and challenge traditional approaches. It will, in turn, force us to go for expeditious innovations, which will lead to rapid advances in technology, policy, and/or procedures. In our Startup Jeevitam, we questioned traditional job fairs being done by government and were able to convince them to jointly roll out innovative Digital Job Fairs across the country. Every crisis also tests the limits of our resilience. Since it is uncertain on how long this shutdown will last and when will rebuilding begin. Accordingly, there will be a number of unknowns in business and in life when Time to Restart comes. Hence, we need to start preparing ourselves for all possible scenarios. I call myself Incurable Optimist and I believe staying optimistic and taking charge of our mental health and capturing the small moments will help as we go further into these unknowns, too. And lastly, we got to believe in ourselves, we need to believe that we have it in us to bide this crisis too. It's time to reset, refocus, readjust and restart soon. It's best if we hit the reset, refocus, readjust or restart button than someone else forcing it on us. And someone WILL. This change is not temporary. It's for good.

Happy Sunday!! Keep Moving & Smiling!!🏃🏽😊
