Unlearn Learn Relearn!
I have been speaking to many since the onset of the present ongoing crisis and one thing which I see many struggling with is to unlearn what they had previously learned, learn new ways of doing things because of a fast-changing environment, and evolve constantly by relearning new to stay relevant. In the last few months, we have seen many businesses disappear because of the failure of their leaders to unlearn what has made them successful. Besides many are losing their livelihood because of not learning & relearning new skills and their employable skills become less valuable in the context of the present crisis, or even getting completely replaced.
I have seen many are under extreme pressure at work, and are still not listening or recognizing the emerging needs of others. Over the years I have learned that We always need to Unlearn what is holding us back, and we need to Learn & Relearn what will help us move forward towards success. This learning came handy in this crisis for our Startup Jeevitam, we revisited our business plan at the beginning of the year, replaced it with what was required in the context of the present crisis, and are constantly relearning to make it relevant. We are now using our existing technology to help Government Bodies do skill mapping of Workers and do matchmaking with the various livelihood opportunities emerging.
As the lockdown opens, I believe the ability to unlearn is one of the most important qualities we all should have. Every day we must unlearn the ways that hold us back. We need to be open to understand social distancing norms which will involve changes in the way we do business and more importantly the desire to embrace new normal. And for that, we need to understand the importance of giving up what is no longer true, or relevant, or helpful. We also need to make sure that we are up-to-date with the knowledge and skills that are relevant in present times. We always need to remember to Learn, Unlearn, and Relearn as a cycle for our success!
Happy Sunday!! Keep Moving & Smiling!!🏃🏽😊
