In Trying Times, Just Keep Trying!

Image
This week I read through the book with the above title as the thought was apt in today's times. There were three key learning relevant to the ongoing crises. First, Choosing to be Positive. When we face crises like the presently ongoing, each one of us has a choice to make: we can choose whether we will be weak or strong. It's interesting to ponder that choice. We have to look upon these Trying Times for what they really are: Strengthening Opportunities. We have to see challenges of the ongoing crisis as tremendous opportunities to try new ways, to choose Strength & Grow Stronger as we do so. In our Startup Jeevitam, when the crisis started, we decided to look upon all the possible Strengthening Opportunities and we started Trying New ways of doing business while asking ourselves questions like What is our target customer resonating with? What are they doing right now? What will they be doing once this goes back to normal? Can we reach new customers right now? Who are they?...

Positive Affirmations!

Image
This week while watching famous Indian Movie 3 Idiots, one of the famous Actors Amir Khan would use this Positive Affirmation, “All is Well,” whenever in difficulty. Whenever things would get funky, or things would go wrong, he would just remind himself that 'All is Well'. And he would tune back into this stream of well-being. Positive Affirmations I think are Positive Statements that can help us to challenge and overcome our self-sabotaging and negative thoughts. I have experienced, when we repeat them often and believe in them, we can start to make positive changes.  In these difficult times, I’ve warmed up myself to Repeated Positive Affirmations as an innocuous way of sweet-talking to myself through the not so good stuff. I remember the famous dialogue from an Indian Movie: When we truly want something and go after it without limiting ourselves with disbelief, the universe will make it happen. According to the Law of Attraction, what we think and feel shapes our reality. I ...

Survive, Live & Thrive

This week I read an Inspiring Story of a Woman who came out of a crisis with repeated Positive affirmations of the outcome that she wanted to see in her life. She refused to think of a single negative or fear-based thought. Every time a negative thought would cross her mind, she would replace it with positive affirmations. She soon realized that no matter where we go, what we see and do, we live our life ‘in our heads’ and the story we tell ourself can alter our reality! We are in charge of what we make of situations. It is really up to us how our life pans out and what stories we tell ourselves to Survive, Live, and Thrive!  Yes, We live our lives in our heads. In the last few months because of the ongoing crisis, our mind has been working on a survival mode. We are just trying to survive: physically, financially, or emotionally. However, I feel this year is not only of survival but also of Opportunities. I strongly believe that we can overcome the present ongoing crisis with repe...

New Normal!

Image
It has been more than three months now since the world is on a bumpy journey to a new destination and the New Normal. Now that many countries are easing their economic and social restrictions due to the present ongoing pandemic, there’s a lot of talk about 'The New Normal'. What does this mean? For me, It means a new way of living and going about our lives, work, and interactions with other people. Working from Home, Restricted Travel, Social Distancing, Wearing Masks, etc are all examples of our New Normal. I believe this ongoing crisis will be a once-in-a-generation global turning point, where many of the fundamentals of our social and economic life will be remade and a New Normal established. For some Organisations/People, near-term survival is the only agenda item. Others are peering through the fog of uncertainty, thinking about how to position themselves once the crisis has passed and things return to normal. The question is, ‘What will normal look like?’. While no o...
