Reflect, Re-Engage, Reimagine, and Reboot!

 This week my Parents got the Vaccination done, it was quite relieving as they are the ones whom we all had tried to Protect in the ongoing crisis. However, it also made me think that finally crisis probably is coming to an end. To my mind any crisis like the ongoing one plays out over three-time frames: Respond, in which we deal with the present situation and somehow manage continuity; Recover, during which we learn and emerge stronger; and Thrive, where we prepare for and shape the “Next New Normal.” I believe in our ongoing Recovery phase we are having four critical actions: Reflect, Re-Engage, Reimagine, and Reboot. In my view, these actions are & will bridge the crisis response to the New Normal by laying the foundation to Thrive in the aftermath of the crisis.

I think in the recent past we all had time to Reflect on What Next. We now somehow know what has worked, what has been our learnings, and what has been missed in our Response to the Crisis. I remember actually having taken a lot of time to bring in different perspectives & voices, spoke to as many for inputs to chart out what comes next for us. The Recovery process also created opportunities for all of us to Re-Engage with the Real World both personally & professionally. Many of us acquired/are acquiring new Skill Sets. My wife who is a Primary School Teacher learned to Engage with the kids who are coming to the school for the first time, Digitally. We accepted Work From Home is also one of the Workable options. And we also realized that we all are capable of much more than we have been traditionally asked to do.

I keep saying that the ongoing crisis has given us an Opportunity to Reimagine the way We Work & Live. All the Changes that many of us predicted would happen over decades are instead now taking place very rapidly. We all have seen the emergence of New levels of Partnerships within and across ecosystems, and unprecedented levels of flexibility, teaming, and adaptability. In our Startup Jeevitam, we are Reimagining the way Vulnerable Segments & Entry level Workforce find Sustainable Livelihood. I strongly believe that this crisis has given us all an opportunity to “Update” or “Upgrade” our Personal Operating System. Let us Reboot our Thinking, Reboot our Priorities, Reboot our Goals, Reboot our Work & Reboot our Life. And position ourselves for the next phase: Thriving in the New Normal.

Be Authentic, Do Uncomfortable Work And Surrender To The Outcome!

This week I saw this Ted Talk about the above. I could relate to it so much to my Journey. Authenticity for me is a collection of choices that we have to make every day. It’s all about the choice to show up and be real, to be and to let out true selves be seen. It is also about being true to who we really are. Authenticity is more than speaking; Authenticity is also about doing. Every decision we make says something about who we are. Authenticity starts in the heart.
