Living with Uncertainty!

Image
The Ongoing crisis continues with the arrival of a New Variant of the Virus. Will this Variant lead to Lockdown again? How will the crisis evolve? Nobody Knows. Uncertainty is all around us, never more so than today. Whether it concerns ongoing crises, the economy, or our finances, health, and relationships, much of what lies ahead in our lives remains uncertain. Yet we all crave security. We want to feel safe and have a sense of control over our lives and well-being. We can never really know what the future will bring. And during improbable situations like the ongoing crisis, which has massively disrupted our routines & our best-laid plans, maybe it’s more effective for us not to attempt to Create Certainty. Uncertainty is the only Certainty there is. And We Need to Learn to Live with Uncertainty. If we look back when the Lockdown was forced on us, we learned to Work & Live from Home as we had no other option. It was difficult for many, but we learned anyways. However, as the ...

Take Care!

This week was relatively dull. In Delhi changing climate and the quality of air has been an area of concern. It has affected the health of many, young daughter of my colleague was in the hospital because of a respiratory disorder. My family was also affected by Viral infections and I myself also have not been keeping well. And when you are not well you do not feel like doing things that otherwise keep you going. Though I tried my best to keep up my commitments and stay positive, it's not the same. When your body is not working to the best of its ability, I believe it's important to listen to It, Should Rest, and Take Care. Yes, it's important to listen to your body, it tells you when things are not right. When you ignore it, can create problems everyone knows. We all are working from home for some time now and the lines between work and rest have got blurred. For many like me, all days look the same. I understand it's Sunday as I write My Sunday Blog. So while writing t...

Remembering "My Ma" on her 6th Death Anniversary!

Image
My Ma left us for heavenly abode six years ago today. Every Year, I have been writing about her and feel nothing has changed. In some ways, it seems like many years have passed since she left us. Her absence is part of my daily life now. But there are still times when the wound still feels fresh. At some point many days, I think I should call her and have to remind myself I can no longer do this. Ma was my biggest fan. Growing up, the word that I associate with her is love. I remember as a child that it was unconditional and expressed often. I knew she was proud of me, but I never felt like I had to do anything to earn her love – it was just there. I still have with me in my purse, the letter she wrote to me when I was leaving home for my first job in Mumbai. The values she gave me held me up as a good human being in various parts of my life. She supported me in all major decisions of my life, my decision to start my career in Mumbai, my decision to choose my Life Partner, many others....

If You Can't Find a Way, Create One!

This week I came across the above quote and feel it's very relevant in the context of the ongoing crisis. As the crisis subsides, the world is divided and can't find a New Model to Work & Live. I think we need to learn from what worked since the onset of the crisis and not to go back to old ways of working. I believe it's high time to defy conventional wisdom and create a New Way of How We Work & Live. And for that, I think it will require a creative, generative orientation towards the world. It will involve continuous learning and growth. It will entail a different approach to work and life that I deeply believe is both possible and necessary. I am confident that We can create a New Way to Work & Live. Over the years I have learned that there’s something about growing up, where it seems that we’re often taught that we should figure out how to be right instead of trying out new ways of doing things and be not right. We are not encouraged to ask questions and it ...

Rethink The Way We Work & Live!

Image
This week because of Diwali, had a long holiday which gave me time to reflect on the Year gone by, since the onset of the ongoing crisis. Lot has changed and we keep talking about New Normal Emerging. On the Work Front, there is a Great Reshuffle happening. Work From Home became an accepted way of Working and as the crisis subsides, there is a big debate going on with the New Hybrid Working Model. Whereas on the one side companies are looking at calling employees back to the office, there is resistance from many which are forcing companies to have a relook at their plans. We used to Live Where we Worked, this is changing now to great extent. We are now trying to Work Where We Live. I believe the Emerging Opportunities are creating a lot of Possibilities, giving us a once-in-a-lifetime chance to Rethink the Way We Work & Live. Right now, all companies, all CEOs, are rethinking the way their company works. They’re rethinking their culture. They’re rethinking their values and ab...
