Age is Just a Number!

At 42, Rishi Sunak became the youngest prime minister in modern political history when he took office this week. At 23, Ritesh Agarwal, CEO of Oyo became the youngest Founder of a Unicorn. Joe Biden, President of US took the presidential oath of office 61 days after turning 78. After quitting her job at the age of 50, Falguni founded Nykaa. My younger daughter became a Cloud Kitchen Entrepreneur when she was 16 years old, My Father in Law who is 80+ years is unstoppable & keeps working on something new. Age is really only a number, that's all. It has no limitations! The only limitations are the ones we set for ourselves. Those who dare to become their truest version will find a deeper purpose in life. And, when life has a purpose, time has no boundaries. I believe when time has no boundaries, Age is Just a Number!

I have been conducting Future of Livelihood Webinars with college students for some time now, it gives me an opportunity to interact with them and get their perspective. In any society, people have a habit of defining everything using numbers, especially the number of age. Age is so and so, it’s time to get the person settled, get married, get kids etc etc. I understand that today's youth are more aware of the opportunities, more open to follow the unconventional path, more adaptable to the fast changing environment. They understand that being in their twenties or thirties does not mean that it is time for them to settle down both in their career and family. It does not mean that they cannot change their profession and come out flourishing. It does not mean that they need to copy other people of their age. There is no comparison, because in the end, Age is Just a Number, which does not define the Failures or Success of their life.

I became a Startupreneur in my early forties. Whenever I meet my clients & stakeholders, many times I have to remind them that anyone at my age can also be a Startupreneur. The data also suggest that Startupreneurs with experience have broad and deep knowledge, management experience, large professional networks that certainly gives them an edge and their success ratio is much better. I speak to many of my Ex-colleauges about their future plans, and most of them I find are constricted by their Age Mindset. I believe once we grow old, Age is an issue of mind over matter. If we don’t mind, it doesn’t matter. So, age is just a number – not an indicator of potential, performance, skill, or anything else for that matter. How young or old we feel has a huge influence on our health and how other people view us. I believe those who are fearless, never grow old. It’s about time we all recognise that. It’s time we shatter the age bias, after all, Age is Just a Number.
