The Harder We Work, the Luckier We Get!
I have been on the road literally since the beginning of this month meeting as many partners associated with our *Aarambh* Audacious Project to Impact at least one Million Girls/Women become Self-Dependent. And this week, was really hectic where I was driving over 100+ kms every day and meeting as many Good People who will be becoming part of Aarambh Initiative and helping take it to next level. After soft launch of *Aarambh* on 2nd October, we will be now launching this Initiative in the middle of February at a scale which will be really Audacious. I personally believe that the Harder We Work, the Luckier We Get, meaning that behind what looks like sudden success is often a lot of hard work, trial and error, and failures. Harder we work, the more good ideas and chances we may make for ourselves! And the reward for hard work well done is the opportunity to do more. I have experienced through our Startup Jeevitam, far and away the best gift that life has to offer us is the chance to work hard at work we love and is worth doing.
'I Believe In Hard Work And Luck, And That the First Often Leads to The Second.' ~ J.K Rowling. In early part of my life I have seen my Dad really working hard to give best to his family. And with the values he gave it to me, I very soon realised that to achieve my dreams I have no other option, but work hard to make up my way through. Over the Years I have learnt to be Persistent, to be Diligent and to be Driven in whatever I do and this requires a lot of hard work. There are no shortcuts. There are no tactics. No strategies. No magic dust. There is and always has been, a single trait that I believe trumps all - Hard Work. Hard Work Works. Thomas Alva Edison, inventor of light bulb, had failed 99 times during his experiment and succeeded in 100th time. He didn’t accept his defeat when the luck was not with him, instead he kept on working hard which lead to his success. Luck gives us success directly but hard work gives us success with a lot of experience, skills and sometimes failure lessons too. My Mentor keeps telling me, when we work hard the rewards may be delayed but they are never denied.
In every case, the hard work that precedes the instance of “luck” is just as important as the crowning moment itself. I have seen many putting themselves in the right place at the right time more often by identifying an area in which they have the necessary skills and knowledge to capitalise on sudden opportunities. It also involves being in a lot of places at a lot of times that might seem inconvenient or even painful, like I tried doing this month. We have heard that luck favours the well-prepared but what about luck favoring the tenacious? Every successful (we might say “lucky”) person I know has come very close to giving up many times. They’ve looked failure directly in the eyes and said, “not yet.” and they never stopped working hard. In the end, we cannot control our luck—good or bad—but we can control our effort and preparation. Luck smiles on us all from time to time. And when it does, the way to honor our good fortune is to work hard and make most of it.
