Think Beyond the Obvious!
We launched *Aarambh* Initiative in beginning of October to impact at least one Million Girls/Women become Self-Dependent. We have been working on two themes, 'Beti Padao Beti Bachao' & 'Beti ko Swawlambi Banao' (Educate the Girl, Save the Girl & Help them become Self-Dependent), was the obvious Next Step. Similarly, 'Main Atmanirbhar Bhartiya Nari' is the second obvious theme we have been working on to increase Women Workforce Participation in India. Everyone liked the two themes & our idea to make this a Nation-wide Movement. But we soon realised, that merely creating these two themes will not make this Initiative a Movement. Clearly we needed to look beyond the obvious for what has been missing till now to help increase the Women Workforce Participation in India. We had to keep our mind’s eye open to seeing things others didn't see or have missed. Forming new perspectives using what we see, that others missed, can possibly give us totally different results than we expect. We believe when we start seeing things from a different perspective, we begin to see what fits better than what is just there.
“If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” ~Wayne Dyer. I have been a Startupreneur for sometime now and I believe in taking Perspectives from my Mentors, Advisory Board Members & stakeholders for seeing things from various views. Seeing things the same as everyone else is conformity. When we start seeing things from different perspectives, we begin to see what fits better than what is just there. I keep telling my Colleagues that when we are trying to do Something New, Something Big, Something Impactful like our Audacious Project *Aarambh*, we need to challenge the status quo and think beyond obvious to do in a more better & more efficient manner. And for that we need to be more curious about things and then ask questions to understand what we are curious about. This sometimes help us go beyond what we see. And then we need to be more open minded about what we see & hear from all and we should start looking at everything beyond the obvious before we take decisions.
"Creative ideas come to the intuitive person who can face up to the insecurity of looking beyond the obvious" ~ Walter Lippmann. When we are thinking & doing things beyond obvious, we need to constantly keep trying things and keep making changes wherever required. We set goals, pursue them, then get distracted. To achieve something Innovative, something meaningful, we need to constantly correct course. If we do the same as everyone else, we will get the same results. And when the new thing starts working, we need follow the fundamental algorithm of life - keep repeating what's working. I have been in sales all my life and I keep telling my colleagues to sell as much what's selling. It's quite easy to complicate success. Disruptions happen all the time, it’s the mindset and the ability to think beyond the obvious that is the key to success.
