Self Realisation!

This week I have been going through the Book 'The Bhagavad Gita' Introduced & Translated by Eknath Easwaran. The Bhagavad Gita is a 700-verse Hindu scripture that is a part of the ancient Indian epic, the Mahabharata. It is considered a sacred text in Hinduism and a guide for self-realization. Here are some key principles I have learnt from the Bhagavad Gita for Self-realization: Action without attachment: The Bhagavad Gita encourages action without attachment to the results, as attachment can lead to desire and ultimately suffering. Surrender to the divine: The Bhagavad Gita encourages surrender to the divine, known as Ishvara, as a means of attaining self-realization. Understanding the role of karma: The Bhagavad Gita teaches that actions have consequences, known as karma and that this cycle can be transcended through self-realization. Devotion to God: The Bhagavad Gita encourages devotion to God as a means of attaining self-realization and union with the divine. I genuinely believe that by following these principles, one can strive towards self-realization according to the teachings of The Bhagavad Gita.

I think there are a few ways for all of us who wish to embark on the journey of Self Realization: Practice Mindfulness: I believe Mindfulness is the art of being present at the moment. It helps me to become aware of my thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations, and to understand them without judgment. Reflect on our values and beliefs: I believe we need to take time out to reflect on our values and beliefs and consider whether they align with our true selves. Embrace our Emotions: Emotions are important indicators of our internal state. I allow myself to feel and express my emotions occasionally, and avoid suppressing them. Engage in self-discovery activities: We must regularly engage in activities that allow us to explore our interests, talents, and passions. This can include trying new hobbies, traveling, and seeking new experiences. Seek guidance from a mentor or coach: I have personally experienced having a supportive and knowledgeable Mentor who can help me navigate the journey of Self-realization more effectively.

I believe the ultimate goal of self-realization is to attain a state of inner peace, happiness, and fulfillment. Self-realization involves gaining a deep understanding of one's values, strengths, weaknesses, and purpose. In personal life: Identifying our values, beliefs, and what truly matters to us. Recognizing our strengths and weaknesses, and accepting them as part of who we are. Setting personal goals aligned with our values and purpose. Engaging in activities that bring us fulfilment and happiness. In professional life: Knowing our skills and expertise, and seeking opportunities that utilize them. Having a clear understanding of our career goals and aspirations. Continuously learning and growing to stay relevant in our field. Maintaining a balance between work and personal life. In conclusion, self-realization is a lifelong journey that requires patience, self-reflection, and a willingness to embrace change. The journey can be challenging, but it is also incredibly rewarding, as it leads to a greater understanding of oneself and a more profound sense of inner peace and happiness.
