In a recent video, renowned journalist Palki Sharma Upadhyay discussed the four-pillar template that India followed at the recent G20 Summit in Delhi. This template is based on the following principles: First, Consult Everyone. India sought input from all stakeholders, including developed and developing countries, as well as civil society and the private sector. This helped to ensure that all voices were heard and that the summit's outcomes were broadly representative. Second, Focus on the Positives. India focused on the shared interests of all G20 members, such as economic growth, sustainable development, and global security. This helped to build consensus and avoid getting bogged down in divisive issues. Third, Minimize the Differences. India worked to bridge the differences between different countries and groups. This was done by finding common ground and by proposing solutions that were acceptable to all. Fourth, Build Consensus. India worked to Build Consensus on all of the major issues discussed at the summit. This was done by engaging in dialogue and by compromising where necessary. Palki Sharma Upadhyay argued that India's four-pillar template is a valuable model for other countries and organizations to follow. It is a template that resonates with the Indian philosophy of Antyodaya, that no one should be left behind in the pursuit of a more prosperous and equitable world.
India's four-pillar template can be used in business in a number of ways. First, Consult everyone. When making important decisions, it is important to consult with all stakeholders, including employees, customers, Mentors/Board Members, and shareholders. This helps to ensure that all perspectives are considered and that decisions are made in the best interests of the company. In our Startup Jeevitam we try to get everyone's perspective with a caveat that there is nothing right or wrong. Second, Focus on the Positives. When faced with challenges, it is important to focus on the positives. This will help to motivate employees and to create a positive work environment. We are startup and trying to Reimagine the way Vulnerable segments find sustainable livelihoods. In our this endeavour, many times things do not go as planned, we always try to look at positives and keep moving forward. Third, Minimize the Differences. It is important to minimize the differences between different departments and teams. This can be done by promoting collaboration and by creating a culture of respect. Team Together, both internally & externally is the way forward to work on the scale of problem we are trying to solve. Fourth, Build Consensus. When making decisions, it is important to build consensus among stakeholders. This will help to ensure that everyone is on board with the decision and that it is implemented effectively. We believe consensus building is a long drawn and continuous process of our Startup Journey.
India's four-pillar template can also be used in personal life. First, Consult Everyone. When making important decisions, it is important to consult with loved ones, friends, and mentors. This will help to ensure that you are considering all of your options and that you are making the best decision for yourself. My Elder daughter recently gave her consent for her being ready to get married. As a first step, I have started consultations with family members who are like friends and friends who are like family. Second, Focus on the Positives. When faced with challenges, it is important to focus on the positives. This will help you to stay positive and to overcome the challenges. My daughter is a lawyer by qualification and is Working from Home for a US Based company. She took her own time to be physically & mentally ready for this transition. Third, Minimize the Differences. It is important to minimize the differences between you and your loved ones. This can be done by communicating openly and by being respectful of each other's opinions. I have assured my daughter that she will be given updates on regular basis, consulted for everything and her decision will be final. Fourth, Build Consensus. When making decisions with your loved ones, it is important to build consensus. This will help to ensure that everyone is happy with the decision and that it is implemented effectively. We are trying to have a consensus on the format of the marriage like we wish to have the religious ceremony right at the beginning of the marriage. Consult Everyone, Focus on the Positives, Minimize the Differences, and Build Consensus, Let's All follow this Template of Success in our Professional & Personal Lives.
Happy Sunday!! Keep Moving & Smiling!!
