Embracing Inclusion: The Path to Appreciation and Acceptance!

The passage of the Woman Reservation Bill in India is a landmark moment in the country's history. The bill mandates 33% reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and all state legislative assemblies. This is a significant step towards ensuring gender equality in the political sphere and empowering women to make decisions that impact their lives. The Woman Reservation Bill is a victory for all women in India. It is a sign that the country is moving towards a more just and equitable society. I think there is clear need to add to the slogan now famous slogan "Beti Bachao Beti Padao Beti Ko Swawlambi Banao" to reflect this new focus on empowering girls and making them self-reliant. Our Nation needs more 'Swawlambi Betiyan' for a inclusive society. Also, there is a clear need to increase Women Workforce Participation, 'Ab Har Nari Banegi Atmanirbhar'. I believe there are three Innovations which will drive this change. First, Work from Home/Work from Anywhere is now giving opportunities to work from wherever they wish to work, whether it's their home or office. Second, GiG work opportunities are giving women to make their passion a profession giving them a flexibility & choice to decide when & how much to work. Third, World is now one Marketplace, giving women the power to decide their vision. Together, we can make social & financial inclusion of women in the world by appreciating and accepting the new realities.

This week I wrote an article in a leading Financial Daily along with Rameesh Kailasam on the need of Social & Financial Inclusion of the Vulnerable Segments. I am enclosing here with the link of the article for you all to read. In our Startup Jeevitam, we believe that Livelihood is the fundamental right of everyone and there are enough work opportunities available. We need to just make everyone Aware about the fast emerging Earning Opportunities. Everyone will on their own figure out a way to tap into the available Earning Opportunities by either learning themselves or by taking help from the available Skilling Ecosystem. We believe everyone should be part of the financial ecosystem and have Access to Financial Products like Bank Accounts, minimum health and life insurance cover, small contributions to Systematic Investment Plans, Daily Recurring Deposits etc. These are basic essential products required for the financial inclusion of everyone. Besides, we believe Digital and financial literacy and awareness are essential for financial and social inclusion of everyone. Our Startup Jeevitam is among the very few platforms who have done these programs at a scale of which most of our beneficiaries are women. The constant feedback we get from the women who are earning, and attended these awareness programs, it was their husband, father or brother who have been managing their money. They see a clear need to manage their own money themselves and be financially self dependent. Together, the government, industry, and civil society can help ensure that Everyone has the Appreciation & Acceptance required and the skills they need to earn & save money for their social and financial inclusion.
I believe Appreciation and Acceptance are essential for building an inclusive society in our diverse world. It is about recognizing and celebrating the unique qualities, perspectives, and backgrounds that each individual brings to the table. Appreciation is the first step towards inclusion. It means acknowledging the inherent worth of every person, regardless of their differences. When we appreciate others for who they are, we create an environment where everyone feels valued and respected. For example , We should Appreciate the wealth of experience Senior Citizens have and figure out ways on how we can tap into this reservoir of experience and help them to Mentor the youth of our country. Acceptance complements appreciation by embracing those differences. It means understanding that diversity enriches our lives and helps us grow as individuals and as a society. Acceptance is the bridge that connects people from all walks of life, fostering empathy and understanding. For example, there is a dire need for everyone to accept and help Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) to be Self Dependent. Together, we can make Inclusion a Reality by Appreciating and Accepting Each Other for Who We Are.
