Give Back!

This week I spent a lot of time with my team at Jeevitam, working on a Social Innovation which probably will help Non Resident Indians Give Back to their Nation, Give Back to the individuals they wish to help, Give Back to the community at large, Give Back to their Alma Mater or Give Back to the place they belong to. While working on this Social Innovation I had the opportunity to go deep into Why Giving Back is and has to be an integral part of our lives? Giving Back from what I understood is an intrinsic part of the human experience, deeply intertwined with our sense of community, religion and empathy. It's a reflection of our interconnectedness and the realization that our lives are not solitary endeavors but threads in a larger societal tapestry. Giving Back is deeply rooted in Hindu Mythology and Philosophy as a means to fulfill one's duty, accumulate positive karma, and foster spiritual growth, while also promoting social harmony and selflessness. At its core, Giving Back is an expression of our gratitude for the support and opportunities we've received, whether from family, friends, community, institutions like our School/College or Nation. It's a recognition that our fortunes are often built upon the shoulders of others, making it not just a choice but a moral obligation to contribute positively in all possible ways to the world around us. Expanding the scope of giving back beyond personal relationships, we find a profound responsibility towards the society we inhabit, the institutions that have nurtured us, and the nation that provides us with a framework for our dreams and aspirations. As we navigate the complexities of our modern lives, it's crucial to broaden the scope of our Giving Back endeavors. Contributing to one's community or a section of society like Women or Persons with Disabilities is akin to watering the roots of a tree that sustains us. Similarly, Giving Back to our Alma Mater ensures that the torch of knowledge continues to illuminate the path for future generations. Contributing to our Alma Mater ensures that future generations benefit from the same educational opportunities we had, probably in a better way. On a National level, it's our collective duty to participate actively in endeavors that foster progress, equality, and social justice. Giving Back to our Nation, be it through civic engagement or supporting national causes, helps build a stronger, more resilient society. There are numerous ways to Give Back, and the path one chooses depends on personal values, resources, and abilities. Volunteering time, skills, or resources to social organizations, mentoring the next generation, participating in community clean-up drives, or supporting local businesses are just a few examples. Donations to Social Organizations provide essential resources for those in need, whether it's funding for medical research, disaster relief, or education programs. Sponsorship, on the other hand, offers direct support to individuals or Social Innovations, Initiatives, enabling them to achieve their goals. By financially supporting causes close to our hearts, we become catalysts for positive change. Giving Back for me is not just an option; it's an obligation we owe to our fellow human beings and the world we inhabit. It's a way to leave a lasting legacy of compassion and empathy. Whether through financial contributions, acts of kindness, or our valuable time, the act of Giving Back shapes our character, enriches our lives, and makes the world a better place for all. Embracing this philosophy ensures that we not only benefit from the support of others but also perpetuate a cycle of generosity that can transform our society and, indeed, the world. Keep Giving!!

Happy Sunday!! Keep Moving & Smiling!!🏃🏽😊
