The Beautiful Choice of Kindness!
Summary
Kindness is a powerful choice we can make every day, both towards others and ourselves. Being kind to others, especially those who are Not Blessed with a Good Life, creates a ripple effect of positivity and can transform lives. Equally important is self-kindness, which recharges us and enables us to be more kind to the world around us.
- Let's make kindness our superpower by sprinkling it in our daily interactions, whether it's through a genuine inquiry, not negotiating with the Invisible Workforce, or offering help. These small acts can significantly brighten someone's day.
- We can create moments of kindness by supporting those less fortunate, such as helping colleagues, donating to vulnerable segments, or simply not haggling with street vendors. Our actions inspire others and can change lives.
- Self-kindness is crucial and not selfish. By treating ourselves with compassion, celebrating small wins, and not fretting over things beyond our control, we recharge ourselves to be kinder to the world.
This week I came across this quote "Not Everything that looks perfect is perfect. Not everything that looks happy is happy. Not everything that looks okay is okay. Everyone is going through something. Be Kind - Always" ~ Anita Soni. These words struck a chord deep within me, reminding us of a profound truth we often overlook. How many times have we assumed a family member was fine because of his/her cheerful demeanor? Beneath the surface, each of us carries invisible burdens. A colleague with a constant smile might be battling anxiety. The friend who always seems put-together could be struggling with loneliness. This realization is a call to action – to sprinkle kindness in our daily interactions. Let's make kindness our superpower, transforming lives with small acts of care. A genuine "How are you?", not negotiating with the Invisible Workforce, offering a patient ear, or helping with a task can brighten someone's day immensely. Kindness is a choice we can make every day, both towards others and ourselves.
Being kind to others isn't just a nice thing to do - it's a powerful force that can change lives, including our own. This week, I saw many in my society including myself, rallying behind the car washer in the society for a nominal increase of 100 Rs in the last four years, when the society committee members were negotiating with them. It reminded me of how a small act of kindness from people who are 'Blessed with a Good Life' can brighten the lives of those who are 'Not'. We all have the power to create these moments. Whether it's helping a colleague with a challenging project, helping by donating/sponsoring a Livelihood of the vulnerable segments, or simply not negotiating with the vegetable street vendor, our kindness matters. These acts create a ripple effect, inspiring others to be kind too. Let's challenge ourselves to perform one act of kindness daily - we might just Change Life of Someone!
And let's not forget to be kind to ourselves too! In our rush to care for others, we often neglect our own well-being. But here's the thing - when we're kind to ourselves, we have so much more to give to others. This month, I was beating myself up over non achievement over committed numbers. Then, one of my Mentors asked, "Would you talk to a friend the way you're talking to yourself?" It was an eye-opener! Now, I am trying make it a point to treat myself with the same compassion I'd show a friend. Whether it's taking a break to enjoy a cup of chai, celebrating small wins, or simply telling myself not to fret over things which are not in my control, self-kindness recharges us. It's not selfish - it's necessary. When we're kinder to ourselves, we become kinder to the world. So, let's make self-kindness a daily habit. We all deserve our own kindness too! Kindness has the power to brighten someone's day, inspire positive change, and recharge our own spirits. By embracing kindness in all its forms, we create a ripple effect of positivity that can transform our world, one small act at a time. Be Kind - Always.
Happy Sunday!! Keep Moving & Smiling!!
