Be Happy

Summary:
In a world often consumed by negativity and challenges, happiness is ultimately a choice we make daily, regardless of our circumstances. True happiness may be simpler than we think: someone to love, something meaningful to do, and something to look forward to.

During my continuous travels this week, I found myself immersed in Eddie Jaku's extraordinary memoir, "The Happiest Man on Earth." Eddie's choice to embrace happiness rather than bitterness offers a powerful perspective on life. As Chief Happiness Officer of Jeevitam and someone who believes happiness is a state of mind, his story resonated deeply with me. Happiness isn't something that just happens—it's something we actively choose daily. I've realized we often chase happiness like it's some grand mystery, but perhaps it's simpler: someone to love, something meaningful to do, and something to look forward to. That's it. Not wealth, status, or endless achievement. Eddie's journey shows that even in life's darkest moments, these simple elements provide the foundation for genuine joy and resilience.

In our professional lives, Eddie's wisdom offers profound guidance. His experience shows that finding purpose in our work creates genuine fulfillment. At Jeevitam, I've witnessed how team members who connect their tasks to our mission of helping vulnerable segments find sustainable livelihoods display greater satisfaction when facing challenges. Eddie's belief that education is a "superpower" reminds us that continuous learning empowers us to overcome obstacles and create new possibilities. His emphasis on helping others particularly resonates with me; focusing on service rather than self-advancement brings deeper professional satisfaction. When we lift others, we elevate ourselves. By choosing collaboration over competition and empathy over judgment, we create workplaces where everyone can thrive.

The most touching aspects of Eddie's philosophy appear in his approach to personal happiness. Despite losing nearly everything, he maintained that relationships are life's treasures. This resonates with me—no achievement compares to joy found in connections with family and friends. My close circle provides fulfillment no career success could match. Eddie's practice of greeting each day with gratitude has transformed my mornings. If we feel lost pursuing happiness, perhaps we're asking wrong questions. Instead of "How can I be happy?", I tell myself, "I love what I do! I have something meaningful helping vulnerable segments find Sustainable Livelihoods! I look forward to the opportunities of doing Something New, Big and Impactful!" Eddie proved at 100 that happiness isn't complicated—we are. So let's put aside our worries and choose to Be Happy – life's too short for anything else!

Happy Sunday!! Keep Moving & Smiling!!🏃🏽😊
