Incurable Optimist!

This week, One of my Mentors shared that he was an Incurable Optimist, which lead me deep dive into the meaning of the term to understand him better. So in simple words, Incurable Optimist is that Optimist that relentlessly pushes forward, time and time again, never letting trials keep him from believing in the good that lies up ahead. One of the most powerful personality traits to develop in one’s quest for success is Incurable Optimism. Optimism is defined as “The Belief that Good Things will happen to you and that negative events are temporary setbacks to be overcome.” (-Mayo Clinic). Hope is not being trapped in the past. When someone is Optimistic they have an attitude of “It may happen to me, but if it does I will find a way to get through it, and I will make it even better in the end." Without question, Incurable Optimist people are a lot more fun to be around. They are genuinely happier, healthier, more attractive people. They have an energetic sparkle that draws everyo...

Potential & Age!

I consider Potential and not the Age, to be the most important predictor of success at all levels. Anish Bhanwala, a boy aged 15, trumped the men standing in his way to becoming India's youngest-ever gold medallist at the recent Commonwealth Games. Also the world’s oldest marathon runner also Known as the ‘Turbaned Tornado’, 106-year-old Fauja Singh BEM took up running when he was in his 80s after moving to London from Punjab in northern India. Age is whatever you think it is. You are as old as you think you are. I think in the new era of business and life, evaluations of one another will be based not on Age, Brains, Experience, or Competencies, but on Potential. The question is not whether you have the Right Skills; it’s whether you have the Potential to learn New ones. You can't help getting older, but you don't have to get old. The opportunities for infinite possibility exist no matter what age we are. It’s never too late to forge a new path in life. Don’t wait for ...

Bucket List !

Yesterday Evening I happen to see one of my All-Time Favorite Movies "The Bucket List" on TV. “The Bucket List” is a Movie about two Terminally ill guys (Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson) who meet in a hospital and then set out on an adventure to try and do everything on their Bucket Lists. What Does Bucket List Mean? Quite simply: It’s a List of Things You Would Like to Do Before You Die (or “Kick the Bucket”). Originally referring to things one might want to do before dying, it’s now come to mean “Things We Want to Do but Haven’t Gotten Around to Yet.” Making a Bucket List is easy. You simply start writing down the things that you’ve always wanted to do but that you never got around to doing. Sound simple? Well, it can be a bit more difficult than you’d think. Especially when you have to actually choose the things you really want to do and not be constrained by societal norms and traditions or expectations as to what is “Right” or “Wrong” or what is acceptable behavior....

The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People!

There are certain books you can read again and again, this week I again read The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey, one such enormously influential self-help book that taught us the 'Principles of Effectiveness'. Once we make these Principles into Habits, we may be on our way to More Success, Both in Our Personal & Our Professional Lives. I thought of sharing the key message of the book this week. For lasting effectiveness, we may need to adopt these Seven Habits: * The first habit: Be proactive and take control of your own fate. * You have a natural need to wield influence on the world around you, so don’t spend your time just reacting to external events and circumstances. Take charge and assume responsibility for your life. * The second habit: Begin with the end in mind. * Don’t spend your life working aimlessly, tackling whatever job comes to hand. Have a vision for the future and align your actions accordingly to make it into a reality. * T...

Everything in life happens according to our time, our clock!

"I know people who graduated from college at 21 and didn't get a salary job until they were 27. I know people who graduated at 25 and already had a salary job. I know people who have children and are single. I know people who are married and had to wait 8-10 years to be parents. I know people who are in a relationship and love someone else. I know people who love each other and aren't together. There are people waiting to love and be loved. My point is, everything in life happens according to our time, our clock. You may look at your friends and some may seem to be ahead or behind you, but they're not. They're living according to the pace of their clock, so be patient. You're not falling behind, it's just not your time."  - Julissa Loaiza This week I saw a video based on the above quote being circulated over Whatsapp. After watching this video I began to accept how true it really is. We all do have our own time clocks and we should never feel the p...
