2020, A Year of Transformation!

Image
We all go through some sort of crisis in our life at some point in time. However, I believe it was for the first time in many years the whole world went through a crisis this year together. I feel the year 2020 may be called the Year of Transformation in many ways for all of us. Few lost their close ones to the crisis and their lives got transformed forever. Many lost their Livelihood and their lives got transformed in many ways. Lockdown forced people to work from home and the way we work got transformed. Working From Home made us spend more time with family and our personal lives got transformed. The point is everything we do now is different. As our personal lives, our professional lives are practically unrecognizable from just nine months ago. The way we connect with friends & family, with co-workers & clients, and with our community at large has been transformed. Survive to Live and Survive in Our Livelihood is now the focus of all. Also, the era of a “gradual rollout” has...

Be Bold!

This week I read through the Book 'What it Takes, Lessons in the Pursuit of Excellence' by Stephen A Schwarzman, Chairman & Co-Founder of Blackstone. The story literally has what it takes: the anecdotes, the insights, and, most of all, the values to guide the next generation of Entrepreneurs. Of the 25 Rules of Work and Life shared by him, one rule which stuck with me, which I did find relevant in the context of today's situation, was to Be Bold. As per him all successful entrepreneurs, managers, and individuals have the confidence and courage to act when the moment seems right. They accept risk when others are cautious and take action when everyone else is frozen, but they do so smartly. 'The Doors will be opened to those who are Bold enough to Knock.' ~ Tony Gaskins. Even when the rest of the world was going through uncertainty, we at Jeevitam, our Startup, were as open to growth and opportunity as ever before. For me, the greatest rewards this year have come ...

Nurturing & Building Relationships!

Image
The ongoing crisis has reshaped our personal & professional relationships in unprecedented ways, forcing us to live closer together with some people and further apart from others. Life in lockdown has necessitated close, constant contact with our families and partners, but social distancing measures have isolated us from our friends, client relationships, and wider communities. It has also changed the nature of work for everyone. For a person like me who is used to being out and about connecting with people and building relationships, almost everything about the way I work has changed. More than ever we all need to talk more, listen more and care for each other, building on what brought us together and what we want to see in the future. The ongoing crisis is affecting our lives, so we need to adopt new ways to manage and nurture our personal & professional relationships, as they are massively important for getting us through this difficult time. Since the onset of the crisis, I...

Time for Reflection and a Time to Move Forward!

Image
As we enter the month of December, for many it's time to reflect on the year gone by. This year was indeed a crazy year for all of us, many will say and agree. The world came to stand still for some time. Everyone across the world was in complete Lockdown. And after a brief pause, life started limping back again. This year changed the way we live and work. We realized the importance of many things, which we had taken for granted. Importance of the Work We Do, Importance of our Relationships, and the Importance of Good Health. I will call this year a Year of Survival. Survive in the Work We Do and Survive to Live. It is now more evident than ever that adaptability is the key to survival. For all those who refused to change, found it difficult to do things they have been doing. For all those who refused to learn new skills required in the New Normal found that they suddenly became irrelevant. We could no longer live in the past. For many of us this year was a reminder that adversitie...
