There is Light at the End of the Tunnel!

Image
This week one video sent by my friend from the Middle East stood out in the context of the present crisis. I am sharing few excerpts: "Accept that we have no control over the situation. Let go of any thoughts of trying to plan too much for the next month or two, things change so fast. Don't be angry and annoyed at the system. Anxiety goes down. You make the best of the situation, whatever that might be for you. Accept that this is what it is, and things will get easier. Try not to listen to, read or watch too much media - it will drive you crazy, there is a thing as too much. The sense of community I have felt during this time is incredible. Appreciate this enforced downtime. To those beginning this journey, you will get through it, listen to what you are told, follow the rules, look out for each other, There is a Light at the End of the Tunnel . The scale and magnitude of the present ongoing crisis are unimaginable. Besides the medical crisis, another crisis that is unra...

Fight The Fear!

Fear is a natural human emotion, and it is something that we all are experiencing right now. Some fear the disease, some fear the uncertainty and others fear to lose their livelihood. The whole of this week while working from home overtime, I have been speaking to as many across the world and trying to understand the implications of the present crisis. My understanding is that regardless of the source of the fear, it has immobilized too many and is now preventing them from achieving what they desire and are capable of. I think what matters most right now is how we are going to fight our fears, and whether we let them affect our life. I believe fear exists to keep us safe, it isn’t designed to keep us inactive, but to help us act in ways that generate the results we need and want. I think it's time for us to embrace fear coming out of this crisis as an instruction to change the way we do things and let it inform our actions, but not control them. And I see it happening already, g...

Turning Adversity into Opportunity!

This week we have been receiving news/messages on the adversity being handled by all across the world. However, its also turning out to be an opportunity to increase awareness about self-care, immunity, and hygiene. I believe each adversity moment is a learning moment in its own right. We miss countless opportunities to grow because we don’t know how to appreciate and identify these moments. Strategic Advisor of our Livelihood Platform, Jeevitam, believes that we are aptly placed at this moment to help maintain business continuity in hiring despite people not available to interview & meet, remote working and finding Gig workers for health sector opportunities. As a Startuprenur, I believe we can control our response to adverse situations. We can turn them into opportunities. We just need the right mindset to turn adversity into opportunity. We need to see problems arising out of adversity in a different light — as a signal from the environment that it’s time for fresh thinking. ...

Do The Right Thing!

This week I read through an excerpt from an Interview taken with Mr. Ratan Tata. I wish to share the excerpt with all - "At 82, I’m still learning, so when you ask me to give a piece of advice, I feel like the ‘right advice’ changes over a period of time — but the one thing that remains unchanged is the desire to do the right thing. So I’ll say this — leave the advice aside and do what is the right thing, even if it isn’t the easiest thing to do." The headline of this article and excerpt from the above Interview has been the subject of a lot of our recent successes. Looking back, I believe what we did right was that we did whatever we felt was the right thing to do at that point of time, was always not easy to do and it has helped us make our decision-making process so much easier now. Over the last few years of my Startup Journey I realized that when we were committed to “doing the right thing”, it allowed for authenticity and transparency. It also generated a lot of good...

Choose Happiness!

This week I was in Bhutan as part of CII Delegation along with our Minister. During my visit there I had the privilege to meet a lot of Informed & Interesting People, exchanged a lot of new & interesting ideas and a lot of good learnings. One of the interesting learnings was about Bhutan being known as the Kingdom of Happiness and Gross National Happiness a philosophy that guides the Government of Bhutan. They chose Gross National Happiness as the Goal in its Constitution. It stuck with me that if a Government can choose Happiness as a Goal for its people, why we as Individuals can't also choose Happiness as a way of our Life as a good portion of happiness is within our control? “Happiness does not depend on what you have or who you are. It solely relies on what you think.” –Buddha. I think Every one of us wants to be happy, and not just for brief, fleeting moments but deeply happy throughout the course of our entire life. I have learned in my Startup Journey that we can...
