Why Collaboration is Important in the Present Crisis?

The Present crisis is causing severe disruptions that are impacting all. We all are facing unprecedented challenges and it's important for all of us to clearly understand that no nation, no industry, no individual will be entirely spared from the brunt of this pandemic. In the last few months we have seen coordinated responses have become necessary – and even called for – to deal with issues impacting all of us. We have understood that during the most trying times like this one, it’s critical that we stick together, support each other, and collaborate. I believe it’s only by working together that we’ll get through this crisis. We have realized that it's important to have a repeatable method in place to collaborate around ideas and refine solutions for challenges as and when they arise. It will involve the design and implementation of new models of collaboration and relationship management between all in order to derive greater synergy from these collaborations. Improved colla...

Choose And Execute the Right Approach!

Last whole one month has been very demanding, I have been on overdrive, reading as much and speaking to as many to understand the present ongoing crisis, choose and execute what is the right approach for myself and Our Startup Jeevitam. This week I read through this book 'Your Strategy Needs a Strategy'. When the environment is so harsh because of the present ongoing crisis, for all of us the usual way of doing things has/will become unsustainable, it's a fact. Accordingly, there is a dire need for each one of us to drastically change course. We have to go through the renewal journey to survive and stay relevant. As recommended by the authors of the book, there are two parts of this renewal journey. In the first part of the renewal journey, we must have a strong look at current expenses and take quick & effective decisions to remove all impediments to survival. The second part of the renewal journey will involve turning to an adaptive approach, which is very importan...

TimeTo Restart!

This week the Times Magazine cover page had these lines written: "We must get it into our heads that our lives have changed". I think these headlines on the cover page gives a very clear indication of what lies ahead of us when the lockdown gets lifted and Time to Restart comes. We have to get into our heads that the world will not be the same again. We need to accept the fact that our lives have changed. When Time to Restart comes, we will realize that we are used to working from home and it has become a new norm, we are used to not traveling, we are used to reading newspapers digitally and we are used to doing meetings over zoom. It will be difficult for many to leave these newly acquired habits after the lockdown. When Time to Restart Comes and when we step out of our homes after the lockdown, we will find that the world outside has changed. We will see people around us wearing masks always and following social distancing norms. When we will reopen our office/factories,...

Change with the Changing Times

I have been speaking to many in the last few days regarding the present ongoing crisis. One theme which is clearly emerging from the ongoing discussion is that the world is changing fast and it will never be the same again post this crisis. The way we work will be not the same again, work from home is now a reality. The way we do business is not going to be the same again, new business models will emerge, Uber has started delivering Big Basket orders now. The Business which we do may not be same again, hotels are now becoming qurantine facilities. Jobs which we do may not be same again, many are loosing jobs and are now becoming GiG Economy Workers/Entrepreneurs. These are actually highly turbulent times, and the old saying really is true in today's times : the only constant we can count on is change. But one question which intrigues me is that even when change is so necessary to survive, why is it so hard and painful? I think people find it much easier just to keep doing thi...
